Russell: the Journal of Bertrand Russell Studies

Russell is a scholarly journal devoted to all aspects of Russell’s thought, life, times and influence. The current editors are Andrew Bone and Gülberk Koç Maclean. The journal is produced by the Bertrand Russell Research Centre and published semi-annually by Johns Hopkins University Press, which makes the journal available both in print and (via Muse) in digital formats.

The journal has been based at McMaster since 1971 and was edited for its first 51 years by Kenneth Blackwell. Published out of the Russell Archives by the McMaster University Press until the winter 1999 issue, the journal was then published by the Bertrand Russell Research Centre until the move to JHUP beginning with the summer 2023 issue. A full-text and open access archive of all “McMaster” issues produced under Blackwell’s editorship is maintained by the university’s Library Press.
